Home of a Sculptor
Last spring, I visited the home studio of Iakob Nikoladze, often called the first Georgian professional sculptor. In 1906–1907, he worked with Auguste Rodin, and symbolically, the street where the studio stands today is named Rodin Street.
There, I was greeted by his great-grandson, also an artist, who introduced me to Nikoladze’s works and shared some interesting stories about his life. Before leaving, I took some photos — and although I usually prefer color film, I think black-and-white suited the sculptures quite beautifully.
